Sprints
Sprints are time-boxed periods (typically 1-2 weeks) where your team commits to completing a set of issues. SprintFlint helps you plan, track, and deliver sprints on time.
Sprint Lifecycle
Every sprint goes through three stages:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Planning | Add issues, estimate story points, and prepare for the sprint |
| Active | Sprint is in progress - team is working on issues |
| Completed | Sprint has ended - review velocity and outcomes |
Creating a Sprint
To create a new sprint:
- Navigate to your project
- Click "New Sprint"
- Enter a name (e.g., "Sprint 28 - User Authentication")
- Set the start and end dates
- Optionally assign a sprint lead
- Click "Create Sprint"
Sprint Settings
- Name - Descriptive name for the sprint
- Start/End Date - The sprint time period
- Sprint Lead - Person responsible for the sprint (receives alerts)
- Base Branch - Default Git branch for new feature branches
Velocity Tracking
Velocity is the number of story points your team completes per sprint. SprintFlint automatically tracks velocity and alerts you when a sprint is off track.
Deviation Alerts
SprintFlint monitors your sprint progress and sends alerts when:
- 20% deviation - Sprint is slightly behind schedule (warning)
- 30% deviation - Sprint is significantly behind schedule (danger)
These alerts are sent to the sprint lead and project manager, helping you take corrective action early.
Activating a Sprint
When you're ready to start working:
- Ensure all issues are added and estimated
- Click "Activate Sprint"
- The sprint status changes to "Active"
Auto-Activation - A sprint automatically activates when you move any issue to "In Progress" status.
Completing a Sprint
At the end of the sprint period:
- Review completed vs incomplete issues
- Click "Complete Sprint"
- Optionally move incomplete issues to the next sprint
Moving Incomplete Issues
When completing a sprint with unfinished work, you can automatically move incomplete issues to the next sprint. This helps maintain continuity without manual effort.
